My Story

Dr. Mike is a family life educator, heart surgery survivor, and cardiac patient advocate. Heart disease is the #1 killer for Americans. Dr. Mike lost his father and 3 brothers to heart disease. This painful experience led Dr. Mike to establish Hearts and Family, a resource organization dedicated to helping families overcome the challenges of heart disease.

Dr. Coleman holds a PHD in Family Studies from Texas Woman’s University (TWU), MBA from University of Indianapolis, and a BA in Political Science from Western Illinois University. Dr. Mike pondered about why men don’t volunteer or support other men with heart disease and other health issues. While at TWU, Dr. Coleman completed a research study on African American Male Cardiac Peer Support Volunteers. A key finding was that men needed to have candid conversations with someone that they can trust.

In collaboration with Professional Women’s Network (PWN) Dr. Coleman co-authored 8 books that focuses on life skills that discuss Raising Healthy Children in an Unhealthy World, women and domestic violence, generational curses, and the art of forgiveness.

Dr. Mike is widely recognized as a subject matter expert on domestic violence, human trafficking, human relations and father and son initiatives. He is a certified trainer for The National Fatherhood Initiative to present their 24/7 dad curriculum. He serves on the advisory boards for “it’s going to be ok”, a human trafficking and awareness organization, survival of the sisterhood (SOS), rape awareness and domestic violence support. Dr. Mike has done speaking engagements for Blacks in Government, The National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc (NANBPWC). Dr. Mike lives in Frisco, Texas with his wife Robin and sons.
